Mellberg recovers, Chiellini and Iaquinta not called-up

Olof Mellberg has recovered and is in the call-up list for the match on Sunday against Siena. This is good news for Mr Ranieri who will have to do without Giorgio Chiellini. The defender is recovering from muscle strain in his left leg and is not yet available. Even Vincenzo Iaquinta is recovering from muscle strain and has not been called up as a precaution. Gigi Buffon is now totally recovered but as the goalkeeper himself stated after the match against Monaco, he will only be back when he is in his best condition. Three primavera players were called up – defender Lorenzo Ariaudo, who has already played beside Legrottaglie during the friendly match in Messina, Simone Esposito and Ciro Immobile. Ranieri called up a total of 19 players for the match.
