One point and many regrets

The new year is not proving lucky for Juventus, at least in the League. After the draw at Catania, another one today, this time at home, where Sampdoria were able to impose a 0-0 draw.

The result doesn't reflect what really happened during the game, in large part dominated by the Bianconeri, particularly in the first half, when they had at least five clean chances, among them a goal-line clearance, a shot that hit the crossbar (both these chances involved Trezeguet) and a shot by Marchionni right in front of goal which went high. Near the end of the half, the only real chance by the guests resulted in Maggio hitting the post.

In the second half, Juve generously piled on forward, but it wasn't enough. Both Iaquinta and Palladino came on. A couple of controversial incidents in the Sampdoria penalty area increased the regrets for the points lost today. The first part of the season ends with 37 points, and a more than deserved third place position.

Next Sunday night Juve will face Livorno (one of the teams in better form lately). But before that, there's the Italian Cup. Wednesday night, at Milan's Meazza Stadium, round one against Inter Milan
