Ranieri: «It’s a pity because we wanted to reach th final»

The defeat against Lazio and the subsequent elimination from the Coppa Italia is obviously of great disappointment to all at Juventus including the coach.

Claudio Ranieri was visibly disappointed at the end of the match which saw the elimination of the bianconeri: « It’s a pity becase we wanted to reach th final and we didn’t manage. We could have done fmore on teh wings. We didn’t amange even when I tried to change the positions. Even in the second half when I inserted the others they scored».

The supporters were disappointed as is natural and they showed diappointment with chants against the board of directors and the coach: « I heard the supporters. When things are going well it is right to accept the praise and when things go wrong it is right to accept criticism. We msut now pull up oyr socks and we must think of the match in Reggio Calbria an we must try to keep the second half against a team which is fighting against relegation. I hoped we could have kept them from scoring and then scoring the goal we needed but things went diferently. When things go badly it is normal that the coach is contested. We are at Juventus and our objective is to win. Tonight I will definitely nit sleep but as from tomorrow we have to get back to hard work».

In certain parts of the match the team did not show the right agressiveness: «The boys wanted to do well. The tension was right on the eve. Perhaps it was the wanting too much to do well. The equilibrium of a team is balanced on the slightest of things and the slightest of things can make the balance shift in the wrong direction. I wanted a more agressive attitude and that was my intention with the starting line-up: attacking them and scoring. We didn’t manage to do what we hoped for».
