Sergio Bernardo Almiron

Squad Number: 4

Sergio Bernardo Almiron was born in Rosario, Argentina, on the 7th of November 1980. His mum is called Miriam Teresa and she's a housewife. His dad, Sergio Omar, won the 1986 World Cup with Maradona's Argentina and is currently Director General at Newell's Old Boys, one of the biggest clubs in Argentina.
He has a brother, Pablo Andrei, who works as coach at Newell’s Old Boys. His sister Cintia Yanina is an office worker.
He's been married to wife Gildy for three years now and she has given him three magnificent daughters: Flor Celeste, Kinor and Rosaria.

When he's not training, Almiron dedicates all his time to his family. He helps his wife around the house and likes to take care of his 3 “jewels”.

He loves salsa and all Latin music in general. He doesn't watch a lot of television as his three girls take up much of his free time, but when he decides to watch a nice film, he has no hesitation in choosing The Godfather.
In the summer, when he goes back home to Argentina, he loves to go fishing and hunting.

Almiron loves Italian cuisine. He has begun getting to know it and appreciate it, but his true passion, like a good Argentinean, is still asado, the country's traditional grilled meat dish.

He always prefers to dress casual but in certain situations he likes to dress elegant, especially when he spends the evening with friends, perhaps at a good restaurant.
He's really into earrings and has been collecting them for a long time now.

He hasn't got time to follow other sports much, but he's nuts about tennis and about Roger Federer in particular. When he can, mostly in the summer, he likes to play a few beach volley matches with his friends.

He started playing at age 6, in an amateur team called A.I.R., where he played in every role except goalkeeper. His idol since he was very small has always been his dad, especially after he won the World Cup in 1986.
At age 15 he began playing in midfield and has been playing there ever since.

His fondest memory is connected with his father too; after Sergio’s first game as a professional, he hugged him with tears in his eyes and told him something he's never forgotten: “remember that it becomes difficult from now on”.
His biggest dream is to win the title with Juventus, as soon as possible. Maybe already this year.
