Zdenek Grygera

Squad number: 21

Zdenek Grygera was born on the 14th of May 1980 in Pollepy u Holesova, in the Czech Republic. His dad is called Svatopluk and works in a bank. His mum, Alena, is headmistress of an elementary school. He also has a sister named Andrea.
He's married to 26-year old Lucia and they have a beautiful boy, David.

In his free time he listens to a lot of music: pop, rock and Italian music in general.
He spends a great amount of time with his family. His son David demands a lot of attention and he always enjoys going out for a cup of coffee and a spot of shopping with his family. Turin is a new city for him and he wants to discover it and get to know it as soon as possible.
He doesn't watch a lot of movies and doesn't like television much.

He has always had a soft spot for Italian cuisine and even when he lived in Amsterdam he enjoyed eating out at Italian restaurants in the city centre; a tradition that he's decided to continue here. He doesn't drink a lot of wine, but he was impressed by Barbera and Barolo.

His dressing style is simple and casual. He prefers to wear jeans and a t-shirt on training days, as he finds them more comfortable. In the evenings when he goes out with friends, he dresses more elegantly and according to the venue or occasion.
He has a passion for watches: he buys a new one whenever he can.

Zdenek is a real sports enthusiast, on and off the football pitch. He plays tennis and likes to follow ice hockey - a very popular sport in the Czech Republic - , skiing and Formula 1 racing.
His football career began at 5 years of age, in the Holesov team, coached by his father.

He tried in every role before he was 10, then when he joined Zlin he started being employed exclusively as a defender who could play at right back, left back or in a central position.
He has always idolised the most famous Italian defenders, from Ferrara and Maldini up to Cannavaro and Nesta.

Without a doubt his most precious moment was when he debuted with the Czech national team at the World Cup.
He hopes he can stay at Juventus for a long time and that he can win the League title one day.
