There’s always a first time!

Zaccheroni fielded a 4-3-2-1 formation with Diego and Candreva behind Trezeguet as only striker.

Juventus immediately show their determination and will to win. On the first minute, a good initaitve by Juve with Diego's pass in the area missing Marchisio by a hair. The teams spend a few minutes studying each other but on the a great header by Trezeguet following a cross by Diego forces the keeper to save into corner. From the flag the ball reaches Legrottaglie who heads home for the opener: 1-0.

Three minutes later, a good Salihamidzic cross after great play by Diego is a bit too wide for Grosso. On the 16th minute, Davies misses a sitter in the Juve area to the relief of the fans.

It is the 16th minute when a Candreva shot goes high over the bar. Most of the action is happening in midfield but on the 24th minute, a Trezeguet shot goes inches high over the bar.

The 25th minute brings more joy to the bianconeri: beautiful play and dribbling by Zebina who goes past two players and shoots from outside the area for the 2-0 - a truly beautiful goal.

On the 28th minute, a Grosso cross is too low and is intercepted by Hughes. One minute later, a Marchisio shot goes high over the bar.

It is the 36th minute when there is a free-kick for Fulham: Davies' ball finds Etuhu whose shot hits Legrottaglie and is deviated into the net with Manninger surprised by the strange direction taken by the ball: 2-1.

The 39th minute sees a free-kick for Juve: ball into the area cleared by the defence. One minute later, there is a corner for Fulham: Hangeland heads dangerously but Manninger and then Grosso clear the danger.

Fulham benefit of another free-kick on the 43rd minute: the ball is brought out of the area but once again reaches Zamora whose shot is easy for Manninger to save. Two minutes later, Manninger saves a Gera shot following a nice move by Zamora.

On the 2nd of the 3 minutes of stoppage time Juve raise their hands to the air again: Diego with a great move first passes to Trezeguet who is a split second late and then a Grosso shot is saved into corner by the keeper. From the flag the ball reaches Trezeguet who first hits the post and then from the rebound strikes home: 3-1. The goal marks the end of the first half.

At the start of the second half Camoranesi comes on for Salihamidzic. On the second minute, a Candreva shot goes wide and two minutes later Diego hits the ball badly sending it wide.
The 5th minute sees a free-kick for Fulham: the ball finds itself in Manninger's hands. One minute later, there is beautiful play by Zebina to pass to Candreva who with a skillful move passes to Diego who in turn tries to pass to Trezeguet but the ball does not go through.

It is the 8th minute when Duff misses a dangerous ball in the Juve area. Two minutes later, there is a corner for Juve: Legrottaglie's header goes just high over the bar. On the 14th minute, a Zamora cross into the area is headed well wide by Gera.

On the 15th minute, the referee does not stop Zamora who is off-side and the Fulham striker crosses into the area with Legrottaglie clearing. One minute later, Iaquinta comes on for Trezeguet. Free-kick for Fulham: Hughes' cross is not on target.

It is the 20th minute when Candreva puts a good ball for Iaquinta but it is slightly too long for the striker. One minute later, there is a yellow card for Legrottaglie and freekick for Fulham after a handsball by the defender: Cannavaro heads away.

The 23rd minute sees a corner for Fulham: ball into the area headed far by Iaquinta. Another corner for the English team comes three minutes later: the ball is cleared by the defence and Iaquinta runs for it to be finally stopped by the defence.

On the 29th minute, Camoranesi puts a through ball towards Iaquinta in the area but action is stopped for off-side. One minute later, Baird is off-side as he attempts a shot. Sissoko comes on for Poulsen on the 31st minute.

Juve seem to be defending the result but on the 36th minute, there is a corner for Fulham: the ball is headed wide but finally reaches Zamora who is off-side. Two minutes later, Iaquinta is stopped for off-side as he receives a ball in the area.

It is the 40th minute, Marchisio enters the area and moves past a defender but he is then stopped at the crucial moment. Three minutes later, Iaquinta is stopped in the area following dangerous play by Diego according to the referee.

On the 45th minute, a Diego shot is saved into corner by the keeper: ball into the area and Iaquinta's header goes wide. The second and last of the 2 minutes of stoppage time awarded by the referee there is a ball into the Juve area cleared by the defence.

Juve win 3-1 and make an important step towards the quarter-finals which will be decided in the return match on Thursday at 19:00hrs at Craven Cottage.
