The striker bounces back from injury to play his part in Paul Pogba’s winner at the Tardini: “We won on a difficult pitch and claimed three extremely important points”
Fabio Quagliarella marked his return to first-team action by providing the assist for Paul Pogba’s winner in this evening’s 1-0 victory over Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
The striker, who came off the bench on 76 minutes for his first appearance since mid-October, unleashed a magnificent 25-yard shot which crashed off the upright before being turned past Antonio Mirante by Pogba.
And he believes the Bianconeri’s outwitting of a “strong” Gialloblu outfit will serve as a timely boost as attentions now turn to Tuesday night’s visit of Real Madrid.
Speaking immediately after the final whistle, the 31-year-old said: “Pogba did well to follow it up, but it was a good shot. This evening went well, we won on a difficult pitch and have claimed three extremely important points.
“Parma are a very good side who will be a nuisance to anyone they play. Conte was right, they’re a lot stronger than last season. Real Madrid? I’m more than ready. We’ll see what the manager decides.”
