Galatasaray ensure a winning weekend with Friday’s 2-1 success over Konyaspor, while FC Copenhagen and Real Madrid are in action today
The Bianconeri’s three Champions League Group B rivals – FC Copenhagen, Galatasaray and Real Madrid – are all in action this weekend ahead of Tuesday night’s resumption of European fixtures.
One of the three, Galatasaray, have already guaranteed a winning platform to build on when approaching their encounter with FC Copenhagen, battling back from behind to beat Konyaspor 2-1 through goals from Didier Drogba and Burak Yilmaz. The triumph enables the reigning Super Lig champions to continue their domestic revival under Roberto Mancini and cut the gap on league leaders Fenerbahce to just three points.
This afternoon will see FC Copenhagen face a name familiar to Juventus, last year’s Champions League group stage opponents Nordsjaelland, at their home base of Parken Stadium in a 15.00 CET kick-off. Both sides will be keen to get some much-needed points on the board after making slow starts to the season.
Last to play are Juve’s upcoming opponents on Tuesday night, Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are to make the short journey to Rayo Vallecano, the Spanish capital’s third football club, where they will be gunning to make ground on league leaders Barcelona, who stretched their lead at the La Liga summit to nine points with last night’s triumph over Espanyol.
