The goalkeeper will equal Fabio Cannavaro’s all-time record of 136 Italy caps when he lines up against the Czech Republic this evening. A full round-up of the ten Bianconeri involved in tonight's international fixtures
Gianluigi Buffon will add another impressive accolade to a glittering 16-year international career when he captains Italy in tonight’s Group B World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic at Juventus Stadium.
The goalkeeper is set to equal Fabio Cannavaro’s all-time record of 136 Azzurri caps and will celebrate the auspicious occasion on his stomping ground in Turin.
He is joined in Cesare Prandelli’s matchday squad by four other Bianconeri team-mates – Leonardo Bonucci, Angelo Ogbonna, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Pirlo – as Italy vye for the three points that would guarantee their safe passage through to next summer’s finals in Brazil.
Also seeking to help their respective nations through to South America are Stephan Lichtsteiner, whose Switzerland side could strengthen their grip at the top of Group E with a win over Norway in Oslo, and Paul Pogba, who is expected to figure in France’s clash with Belarus after returning from suspension.
Elsewhere, three Juventus players will be involved in friendly fixtures. Arturo Vidal and Mauricio Isla are poised to line up for Chile when they play Spain in Geneva, while Kwadwo Asamoah’s Ghana take on Japan in Yokohama.
