Pogba’s France reach Under-20 World Cup final

The Bianconeri starlet captains his nation to a 2-1 semi-final win over Ghana in Turkey

Paul Pogba helped his native France secure a place in the Under-20 World Cup final by skippering the side to this evening’s 2-1 semi-final triumph over Ghana in Turkey.

Goals either side of half-time from Lille winger Florian Thauvin enabled Pierre Mankowski’s youngsters to book their spot in Saturday’s grand final at Istanbul’s Türk Telekom Arena.

Opponents Ghana, who named Bianconeri striker Richmond Boakye amongst their substitutes, drew level through Ebenezer Assifuah moments after the restart, only to see their hopes of silverware go up in smoke when Thauvin popped up with what proved to be the decisive goal.

France will face the winners of tonight’s other semi-final clash between Iraq and Uruguay.
