The Juventus Women’s First Team suffered their second defeat of the season in UEFA Women's Champions League campaign this season, losing 1-0 at home to Manchester United at the Allianz Stadium.

However, this loss does not compromise the Bianconere's place in the play-offs, as they finish eighth in the League Phase and will face a two-legged tie to try to reach the quarter-finals.

THE MATCH REPORT

Juventus started well, with Cristiana Girelli rising highest at the far post to meet Emma Kullberg's cross after just two minutes, but her effort went wide. Phallon Tullis-Joyce was called into action to deny Amalie Vangsgaard from a good position, with the Dane taking advantage of Maya Le Tissier's lapse in concentration but failing to find the net.

After a quarter of an hour of control over the match, Manchester United took a shock lead in the 18th minute through Jess Park: Fridolina Rolfo played in her teammate, who placed the shot perfectly at the far post.

The Bianconere tried to shake things up, but in the 25th minute, it was the visitors who came close to doubling their lead. Melvine Malard fired in a dangerous shot from the edge of the box, a powerful diagonal effort that forced Pauline Peyraud-Magnin into an excellent save.

In the 37th minute, Park tried again, as she got past Eva Schatzer and Cecilia Salvai, but after running 50 metres, she was unable to get a shot away and was tackled by Estela Carbonell.

In the second half, Juventus tried to change the momentum of the match, but in the 53rd minute, Park once again proved dangerous at the end of an excellent move by the visitors. Coach Massimiliano Canzi's team often lacked the right spark in the final third.

In an attempt to shake things up, substitutions were made, with Emma Stolen Godo and Paulina Krumbiegel coming off the bench to provide new energy and alternatives after an hour of play.

In the 67th minute, Carbonell had a chance when she threw herself at the ball in the box after Tatiana Pinto's excellent dummy on Chiara Beccari's cross, but she was unable to get enough on her shot. Two minutes later, Vangsgaard came close with a left-footed shot.

The Bianconere's final push led to many potentially dangerous moments, but they couldn’t find the leveller. The League Phase ends with Juventus in eighth place, good enough for a place in the play-offs.
