The Juventus Men’s First Team took three vital points away in Bergamo on Saturday evening, claiming a 1-0 Matchday 32 win over Atalanta.
Jeremie Boga got the game’s only goal early in the second half, sealing the win for the Bianconeri.
THE MATCH REPORT
The early exchanges had both sides trying to work the other out, but the game’s first two chances went the way of the hosts after five minutes. Nicola Zalewski first drove wide when through on Michele Di Gregorio’s goal, and Giorgio Scalvini then headed against the post three minutes later.
Khephren Thuram was the first Bianconero to try his luck, but the French midfielder’s shot from range was always rising and never threatened Marco Carnesecchi in the Atalanta goal.
On the stroke of half-time, another chance fell Atalanta’s way as Nikola Krstovic’s attempted acrobatics saw him shoot wide.
The Bianconeri found themselves in front early in the second half through Boga. A clever one-two between the eventual goalscorer and Francisco Conceicao saw a chance break down, but the ball came back into the area and Boga was able to finish at the second time of asking.
Di Gregorio was at his reactive best about ten minutes later to deny the Bergamaschi a leveller after Berat Djimsiti headed at goal from close range on the end of a corner.
Midway through the half and Thuram was threatening again. This time it all came from excellent work from Emil Holm, who pickpocketed the hosts’ defence before teeing up the midfielder, arriving from deep, but Thuram couldn’t turn his effort on target.
Changes came on both sides, and the hosts pressed in search of an equaliser. Davide Zappacosta turned a shot wide with his left foot between two attempts from Giacomo Raspadori that were blocked and turned behind.
At the other end, Manuel Locatelli got a sight at goal after a scuffed clearance from Honest Ahanor, but the captain’s strike was not on goal.
Defending the lead, Federico Gatti announced his arrival with a couple of big blocks, putting his body on the line to keep the hosts out, with Di Gregorio also making a big intervention on a low cross. Gianluca Scamacca headed a chance over, and another wide.
And that would be where the chances ended, seeing the Bianconeri take three huge points back to Turin.
