Barbara Bonansea’s Juventus story will continue until 2027, following the activation of an option to extend her stay in Turin.

By now it is no secret that she is a pillar of the Juventus Women’s First Team, and she will continue to lead her Bianconere teammates for another while yet.

“As with all things that last a long time, you become more familiar as time passes,” Barbara said on the day of her extension. “After achieving my dream, I have been able to live it and to continue living it.

“You feel part of something big here, I feel like I’ve grown with Juventus, together with my teammates who have been here since day one and those I’ve met over the years, as well as the coaches I’ve had. Everybody has given me something, and I hope to have given a little something back to them too.

“Honestly, I feel at home when I come here, and that’s not something to be taken for granted, just as it’s not always easy to be happy to come to training. It might be monotonous to some, but for me it’s always the greatest motivation to come here and give my all every day.”

ADVICE FOR HER 2017 SELF

“I’m a person who lives in the moment, and for better or worse I try to let things slide quickly and focus on what I have to do. So, if I had to advice the Barbara who had just arrived here eight years ago, I’d tell her to savour things a little more. I probably would have liked to enjoy everything I’ve experienced some more, and I’ve experienced so much.”

HER BIGGEST LESSON AT JUVENTUS

“The first thing that came to mind was to never give up. It’s something that you hear in sports a lot, but the reality here is a constant pursuit of victory, which is inherent in the identity of this club. It fills you with good pressure that makes sure you never give up. I learned this here, and it’s relevant looking at our last two wins. There is no better place to teach you to always believe in yourself, to instill in you this mentality of giving your all until it really is over.”

THE NEW SEASON

“We’re going through a strange period because there’s always something new to learn. We’ve changed the way we play a bit, how we manage the ball and the situation that arise in-game. I don’t think it’s a bad time for us, quite the opposite. We just need to find the finishing touch to the work we’re doing, maybe we need to be more aggressive and take more personal initiative. I say this for myself and all my teammates because I am a direct witness to all the talent and potential they have and can bring out. I’m convinced that we’re on the right track, we just need to oil the machinery a little and express our abilities.”
