Ahead of Matchday 6 of the League Phase of this season's Women's Champions League, against Manchester United, Juventus Women's First Team coach Massimiliano Canzi and midfielder Tatiana Pinto attended the press conference.

“I’m not surprised by what we’ve done in Europe. When I decided to come to Juventus I knew that the Club had European pedigree. If you could follow our work at Vinovo every day, you’d see how we train, what our mentality is, and of course the talent that we have.

“Tomorrow we’ll have to focus on our own game, and to fight until the end. Then, if at the final whistle we find ourselves among the top four we’ll celebrate it, but in any case we’ll be happy with a really good League Phase performance.

“Manchester United have a good combination of being physical and technical, so I’m expecting a physical game and it’ll be vital to be switched on from the first to last minute. It’ll be a tough match for us, it’s the Champions League, but we’ll be at home at the Allianz Stadium and we hope that will give us that extra boost to win.

“I’ve settled in easily here at Juventus, and I don’t think there are any secrets behind that. I think the whole team has been really welcoming of me and they made me feel at home right away. I came here with a lot of hunger and desire to learn and the positive environment I’ve found here has accommodated that. I’m carving out my own space and succeeding thanks to the help of my teammates, who have been brilliant with me.”

MASSIMILIANO CANZI

“These games are some of the easiest to prepare for. I have the fortune of having players of the highest level, and motivation is inherently tied to the game. Playing at the Allianz Stadium only adds to that.

“Manchester United have a lot of quality, and players of the highest level. They are physical and technical, and we’re definitely coming up against one of the best teams in Europe. We have a lot to gain and relatively little to lose. We’ll play an open game.

“This is a huge game on the biggest stage, the stakes are high and we’ll be playing in an incredible setting. If you’re not motivated for games like this, you’re probably in the wrong line of work.

“Last year we had two games in the League Phase of the Women’s Champions League where the difference was huge, but this year we’ve been better at holding our own in tough spells. Especially after conceding, like in Munich and Madrid, we’ve done well to not give up and then the girls have shown the courage to fight back.

“Defending a league title is harder than winning the first one, we knew that before the season started. We’re no longer a surprise, and the level across the league has risen. Being here to play for such an important objective, especially having already achieved one of ours with a game to space, gives us huge pride.”
