The Men’s First Team picked up a point at home to Stade Rennais in the League Phase of the UEFA Europa League.

The match at the Allianz Stadium ended 2-2, with Zeki Celik and Nick Woltemade scoring for the Bianconeri.

Coach Luciano Spalletti and Teun Koopmeiners spoke to the press after the action.

LUCIANO SPALLETTI

“We don’t feel quite comfortable enough in getting forward, in gaining ground every time the ball comes back. Then, if it comes back slowly, we move up slowly, but if it comes back quickly, we have to move up quickly – we need to move at the same speed as the ball. The ball sets the pace, and it’s the ball we’re trying to win back; sometimes it takes us a bit of time.

"We did well today, and our tempo was good too; unfortunately, we conceded two goals we shouldn’t have. We need to go the extra mile to aim for consistent results through our attitude. It seems to me that the players have responded very well. They raised their game today, but we’re still missing something; if I don’t win matches, I’m not happy.”

TEUN KOOPMEINERS

“The way we responded in the second half was significant. We need to keep doing that and carry some of what we did into the next match as well. I think we deserved to win in the second half. I’m disappointed about the third goal; unfortunately, we didn’t win 3-2. The free-kick? We’d worked on it, sometimes it has to be a surprise for the opposition, that makes it more difficult.”
