Friday evening marked the end of the journey for Viola Calligaris and Alisha Lehmann at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, with hosts Switzerland falling to world champions Spain despite a spirited showing.

Spain came into the game as strong favourites, but the hosts proved to be a more-than-stubborn test in Bern. Despite winning an early penalty, which they missed, Spain struggled to break down a solid Swiss backline, which included Calligaris from the first minute.

While Viola played the entire 90 minutes and put in a good performance despite the 2-0 loss, Alisha Lehmann came off the bench late on.
