Juventus' third Scudetto? The Old Lady secured it on this day 83 years ago and it would prove to be the first of five in a row. It was 21 June 1931 when the Bianconeri mathematically tied up the league title, beating Ambrosiana Inter 1-0. The goal ended Roma's title challenge – they had been chasing the Bianconeri in second place – with one game to spare.
Orsi got the winning goal on 38 minutes but the names of those who made the feat possible were players who would later leave their mark: Combi, Rosetta, Caligaris, the Varglien brothers, Ferrari, Cesarini, Munerati and Vecchina.
The chase for top spot had begun with Juventus v Roma. The Bianconeri won 3-2 with goals from Munerati, Cesarini and Orsi. The first match against Inter had also been won 3-2. The only slip-up came in the return match in Rome where Juve lost 5-0. But that defeat didn't prevent the club from taking home the Scudetto.
