The star of the show this afternoon with the goal that sank Fiorentina at Juventus Stadium, Kwadwo Asamaoh, has expressed his satisfaction at sealing such an important triumph.
Speaking after the final whistle, the 25-year-old began: “They’re three vital points. It wasn’t easy to play against a top side like Fiorentina, so I’m pleased with the result.”
The Ghanaian’s was a wonderful goal, beating Juan Cuadrado with a piece of skill the renowned trickster himself would have been proud of and then firing in off the far post.
And Asamoah went on to reveal his inspiration in straying from his usual tactic of heading for the byline.
“The boss often tells me, ‘Try cutting inside’. I’m giving it a go all the time at the moment and today it went well! I’ve never scored a right-footed goal before, let alone one as good as that!”
Asamoah is also a vital cog in the Bianconeri’s marking machine, and he concluded with a word on the duel with Cuadrado that it’s fair to say he got the better of.
“It’s tough marking a player like Cuadrado. We did well to constrain him and their other talents like Gomez. Hopefully we’ll do even better on Thursday.”
