After overcoming Lyon to reach the Europa League semi-finals, Giorgio Chiellini has stated the team’s desire to not rest until they’ve continued their course right up to the final at Juventus Stadium.
Speaking after tonight’s 2-1 win over Lyon, the defender began: “The only thing that interests me is being back here on 14 May: playing the final in front of our home crowd is a chance that might not come around again in the history of the club, and we must seize it.”
Reflecting back on the latest step in the Bianconeri’s journey this evening against Remi Garde’s men, Chiellini expressed his satisfaction with the way they set about the task in hand.
“We’re very pleased with what we’ve achieved. Often people think the result is in the bag because on paper Juve are stronger, but it’s not always like that.
“Lyon played to the death in both these games, marking us man for man for 180 minutes.”
Chiellini concluded with a balanced overall verdict on the positive result achieved in Turin this evening.
“We did well to make the most of the chances that came our way. We lost a bit of concentration midway through the first half when we needed to be alert, but all things considered it’s a deserved result.”
