It’s all square in London as goals from Giuseppe Rossi and former Juve man Emanuele Giaccherini secure a draw for the Azzurri at the end of an entertaining friendly in which Angelo Ogbonna is the only Bianconeri starter

Italy drew 2-2 against Nigeria at Fulham’s Craven Cottage last night in their last fixture of 2013.

Angelo Ogbonna started for Cesare Prandelli’s men, while Gigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Pirlo all initially rested on the bench after lining up from the beginning against Germany on Saturday before the latter came on as a 53rd minute substitute.

The Azzurri took the lead early on through Giuseppe Rossi after he was played through on goal by Mario Balotelli.

But Nigeria, with confidence still riding high after becoming the first African nation to qualify for the 2014 World Cup on Saturday, got themselves a foothold in the game when Bright Dike rose above Manuel Pasqual to head past Slavatore Sirigu.

And they went on to put their noses in front just four minutes later when Shola Ameobi swept home a cross that came in from the left flank.

Not wanting to conclude 2013’s international action with defeat, Italy rallied and drew level when Emanuele Giaccherini, unmarked in the centre, was picked out by Antonio Candreva and fired home with a precise right-footed shot just two minutes after the restart.

There are still more internationals featuring Bianconeri to look forward to, the full details of which are as follows:
