Juventus will kick off their summer tour with an exciting exhibition match against an Indonesian select side in the country’s capital city, Jakarta, on Wednesday 6 August.
As one of the Bianconeri’s largest and most passionate foreign fanbases, Indonesia is guaranteed to give Antonio Conte’s champions a welcome to remember when they run out at the 88,000-capacity Gelora Bung Karno Stadium at 20.00 local time.
The club’s head of global partnerships, Nicola Verdun, expressed his delight at the agreement: “We are very excited to start our Asian tour in such an important country as Indonesia, where the passion for football and Juventus is extraordinary, as demonstrated by our strong fanbase. The Gelora Bung Karno Stadium is a super venue and we are ready to put on the best show possible for all attending.”
Promoting the encounter is Nine Sport, whose CEO, Arif Wicaksono, added: “We are beyond thrilled that Juventus have decided to come to Indonesia this year. They are one of the best football teams in the world and it is a huge privilege for Indonesia to see the Bianconeri stars playing here in our national stadium. The match will be one in our history book, not just as a promoter but also as a football fan.”
The game is also to be broadcast live to a nationwide audience by MNCTV, South-Asia’s largest television network. Managing director Ella Kartiker said: “Juventus is one of the most successful clubs in the world with a massive fanbase in Indonesia and we are sure that our viewers will enjoy the match.”
Further details regarding the showpiece event and ticket purchases will be revealed by Bianconeri ambassador Edgar Davids and Nicola Verdun during a press conference to be held tomorrow, Wednesday 25 June.
After opening in Indonesia, Juventus will continue their summer tour with a fixture against the FOXTEL A-League All Star Team, a selection of the best players from Australia’s top flight, on Sunday 10 August in Sydney.
The final stop will be Singapore’s National Stadium on Saturday 16 August, when a Singapore selection side, comprised of players from Malaysian Super League outfit Lions and S-League internationals, will take on the Italian champions.
