Having walked out onto the field at the Bernabeu on many occasions for his previous club Athletic Bilbao, Fernando Llorente knows the special feeling of taking on Real Madrid on their home turf.
And with the Bianconeri making the trip to Spain to face Los Blancos in the Champions League on Wednesday, the 28-year-old striker is looking forward to experiencing it again.
Speaking about Juve’s clash with Carlo Ancelotti’s men in an exclusive interview with Bianconeri TV channel Jtv, Llorente said: “I’ve already scored twice at the Bernabeu. It’s a truly impressive stadium. When you come out of the dressing rooms it really does hit you. I think it’s one of the most majestic footballing venues and playing there is different to any other stadium.”
Juventus will line up at the famous ground against a Real Madrid side who have found their form in La Liga and have comfortably won both of their Champions League games so far. For that reason, the Spaniard considers it a crucial fixture in the Bianconeri’s European campaign.
“It’s pleasing for me to play against a Spanish side, even more so when it’s an important one such as Real Madrid. We need to show what we’re capable of producing.
“It’s a good opportunity for us to claim some points, but we know that it won’t be easy because Madrid are a great team. However, we believe in our chances. They’re a complicated side to face. They let you play, but then create plenty of danger when in possession.”
