With just five games now remaining before the end of the Serie A campaign, Fernando Llorente has described tonight’s 2-0 win away at Udinese as absolutely key.
After netting the double that decided last week’s victory over Livorno, the Spaniard was back on the scoresheet again tonight, showing all of his poacher’s qualities to react quickest on the edge of the six-yard box and poke home to make it 2-0.
And the 29-year-old expressed his satisfaction with the way the goal has contributed to the Bianconeri re-establishing their eight-point advantage over Roma at the top of the table.
Speaking after the final whistle, Llorente began: “It was a decisive game, it was so important for us to win tonight and we’re happy. We’re getting through the games and the distance between us and Roma is remaining the same, so that’s great as far as we’re concerned.”
The striker put all of his usual energy into his performance tonight, but seemed serene when responding to a final question on whether he feels tired at this stage of the season.
“We’ve played so many games that that’s normal. Now we’ve got time to recuperate before Saturday, so it’s no problem.”
