Federico Peluso spoke of his delight at helping Juventus come through a tricky test unscathed and extend their unbeaten start to the 2013/14 campaign with tonight’s 2-1 win over Chievo.
After making his first appearance of the season in the Bianconeri’s opening Champions League Group B fixture against FC Copenhagen, the defender was recalled to the starting line-up this evening.
And he believes the team’s thorough preparation and refusal to underestimate a tough Chievo side paid dividends as Antonio Conte’s men aim to defend their title in an increasingly competitive Serie A championship.
Speaking to JTV following the final whistle, the 29-year-old said: “We gained a fundamental win from a good performance tonight. We saw that the others dropped points which shows how difficult this league is. These games can seem more straightforward on paper when, in fact, they actually end up being very complicated."
Looking ahead towards Sunday’s inter-city derby against Torino, Peluso added: “We’re at the beginning of the season so we’re not looking at the table yet. We’ll take things on a game by game basis, it would be wrong to think otherwise. The derby is always a particular game, we know how much it matters to both sets of fans, but the most important thing for us to gain consistency.”
