Gianluca Pessotto expressed his pleasure at seeing the academy’s hard work rewarded by this evening’s 2-1 Super Cup success over Lazio at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico.
He believes the credit for the Primavera’s first silverware of the campaign should be shared across the board and praised the players for their determination in seeing off a strong Lazio outfit in the capital.
Speaking to reporters after the final whistle, Pessotto said: “It’s a pleasing triumph as far as everyone at the club is concerned and a decent reward for our work. The lads came under the cosh and had to tough it out. It wasn’t a straightforward victory because Lazio are an excellent side with interesting players. We have a young team and also included a lad born in 1997 tonight. It’s a strong start to our campaign.”
