Paul Pogba was on the scoresheet as France eased through to the Under-20 World Cup semi-finals following a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Uzbekistan at the Yeni Rize Sehir Stadium in Rize.
Having returned from suspension to help book Les Bluets’ place in the last eight with a 4-1 win against Turkey on Tuesday evening, Pogba went one better this time around, keeping his cool from the penalty spot to provide his side with a two-goal cushion on 35 minutes.
Also among the goals were Yaya Sanogo, Florian Thauvin and Kurt Zouma.
The win takes Pierre Mankowski’s young guns into the final four of the decorated competition, where they will meet the winner of Chile and Ghana on Wednesday 10 July.
Pogba and his team-mates have already faced the Black Stars in the earlier stages of the competition, beginning their campaign on a positive note with a 3-1 victory in Group A’s inaugural game.
