Juve’s Primavera youngsters were victorious in their very first encounter with peers of the same age in 2013/14 when last night they pulled off a stunning comeback to beat Inter 3-2 in the second semi-final of the Memorial Mamma Cairo trophy in Alessandria.
The tie began in the dramatic fashion that it would maintain for the duration: the Bianconeri took the lead through Hector Otin with little over 15 minutes played.
Andrea Zanchetta’s men held on to their position until half-time, but the Nerazzuri quickly turned things around after the break with a double from George Puscas in the space of seven minutes.
It has been clear to everyone during the Primavera’s pre-season preparations that they are a very talented group, but facing defeat against Inter they then also showed real character.
First Bnou Marzouk leveled the score with his first goal for the club, before Marco Di Benedetto, with only five minutes left on the clock, found the net to secure a momentous win for the Bianconeri.
After this new success on the field that also hosted some very productive outings in the NextGen Series last year, the Primavera will be hoping their luck continues when they face Pippo Inzaghi’s Milan side (who beat Torino 4-2 in their semi-final) there in the final tonight at 8.45pm (CET).
