Two-goal Fernando Llorente says it was important Juventus signed off for the international break on a winning note.

The striker, who has rediscovered his scoring form after a slow start to the campaign in front of goal, notched a brace in today’s 7-0 success over Parma and paid tribute to team-mates for a solid display in every department.

Speaking to the media at Juventus Stadium, the 29-year-old began: “It was a really important game in terms of staying out on top. It went brilliantly, all the strikers played well and found the target – especially seeing as people were saying we don’t score many. It was a great all-round display and I’d like to dedicate today’s double to my family and all the people who follow me.”

Now on three for the season after registering the second in last month’s 2-0 triumph over Palermo, Llorente says he is pleased to be combining good performances with goalscoring contributions.

“I didn’t start the season as I would have liked, but I’m happy because I’m starting to get back among the goals, which is important for the team as a whole.”

The Champions League will come back into consideration when the Bianconeri return to action in two weeks’ time, and Llorente warns they will need to be on their mettle if they are to claim maximum points from the two remaining Group A fixtures.

“We need to believe we can do it, even though the group isn’t easy. We have to win in Malmo and then against Atletico at home, and to do that we must be at our very best.”
