Massimiliano Allegri says he is pleased with the way the Bianconeri ground out a result from a testing pre-season encounter against Lechia Gdansk.

The Polish outfit ran their visitors close during this evening’s game, equalising Paul Pogba’s opener with just eight minutes remaining, only for Mario Mandzukic to pop up with a last minute winner that the Juventus boss believes can only help breed confidence.

Speaking to the media at the PGE Arena, Allegri began: “In spite of the mistakes it’s important to come away with a result from these games. It enables us to work better as a consequence.”

Two individuals – Daniele Rugani, starting on his birthday, and Paulo Dybala, who provided the assist for Pogba’s header - were singled out for particular praise by the Tuscan tactician during his post-match analysis.

“Rugani did well, it was the first time he had played in a back three, and Dybala also looked good.”

One blemish on an otherwise successful evening was the first-half injury sustained by Giorgio Chiellini, who was forced to depart the action after just five minutes.

Allegri revealed the defender is to undergo medical assessments over the coming days and hopes he will be able to shake off the complaint in time for next weekend’s Super Cup final clash against Lazio.

“Chiellini felt his thigh stiffen up and we’ll assess the situation in the next few days. We hope it’s nothing serious, otherwise we’ll have Caceres, Rugani and Bonucci as our central defenders for the Super Cup final.”
