Rastelli: “We’ve nothing to lose”

Fresh from Sunday’s impressive 3-0 win over Atalanta, Cagliari coach Massimo Rastelli has told his charges to go into tomorrow’s match away to Juventus with a positive approach and determination to play their part at the home of the champions.

“We’ve nothing to lose. We’ll give it a really good go against a team consisting of excellent players, who have won five Scudetto titles on the spin. It’s a one-off match and anything can happen.

“If I could have my way I’d field exactly the same 11 players as on Sunday. Many of them, however, are tired out so I’m more or less forced to make changes. I’ll come to a decision after tomorrow’s training session.”

Last weekend not only saw the Rossoblù pick up their first victory of the season, but also keep a maiden clean sheet, and Rastelli called for his players to remain miserly in the rearguard for their coming fixtures.

“We’re building a strong mentality here and we’ll need to go into tomorrow’s match with the same fighting spirit as before, keeping a high defensive line among other things. Only if the opposition are really going for us will we defend deeper.

“Our solidity at the back is what satisfied me the most about Sunday’s win, as well as our sharpness and the quality of our play. Nevertheless, I’m fully aware that there’s still plenty of work to do in order to realise the ideas I have in my head right now.”
