Back at the Palermo helm for the second time this season, experienced coach Davide Ballardini remains confident in his team’s chances of turning around their current slump that sees them stand level on points with 18th-placed Carpi going into this weekend’s trip to Juventus Stadium.

For Ballardini, the key to safety for the Rosanero is the translation of their good work daily on the training ground into positive results on the pitch, starting tomorrow against the reigning champions and league leaders.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference this morning, he began, “We’ve trained very well all week and that should be the benchmark from now until the end of the season.

"Seeing the team working at close quarters every day, I do not believe we deserve to be where we are in the table. The key of course now is to translate the good work we do during the week into results on the pitch. I want to see real desire from my players tomorrow.”

With his charges gearing up to take on the country’s meanest defence, the 52-year old called on his offensive players to make the difference in Turin on Sunday, adding that at its heart, his side is an attacking one.

“We have the tools at our disposal to win enough points and to play good football. We have all the right ingredients and that gives us confidence. We must not think about who we face or what the teams do around us, Palermo must think about only its own results and performances.

“Whatever system you play, the most important thing is that you attack and defend as a team and that you play for each other. That is all I am looking for at this stage.”
