In a match decided by just the single goal, with goalscoring chances restricted to a premium, Juventus’ win over Genoa was, nevertheless, a night of strong defending and, for the hosts, a fifth Serie A clean sheet already in 2016.
Playing a key role at the heart of the Bianconeri rearguard on Wednesday evening, Andrea Barzagli emphasised the significance of sealing three hard-fought points that keep them blowing down the neck of league leaders Napoli.
Speaking to Jtv, the centre-back began: “It was an immensely tough battle right until the very end. We’re delighted with the record that we’ve set and an all-important victory given that Napoli also won.
“All in all, we weren’t troubled too much by their attacks. There was the potential there for them to put us in danger, but we stayed focused and got the job done.”
Tonight’s triumph over the Rossoblu marked Juve’s 13th on the trot in the league and Barzagli lauded every member of the squad that had contributed to their spectacular winning streak.
“Since we’ve embarked on this run, everyone is doing their part to help keep it going. You can see that from each single victory we’ve attained. We need to make sure we continue in this way.”
