A second goal in as many matches for Dani Alves earned Juventus a narrow victory in Sicily, the champions running out 1-0 winners at Palermo's Stadio Renzo Barbera on 24 September 2016.

The Brazilian’s fortuitous strike moments after the interval, a long-range effort helped into the net by Rosanero defender Edoardo Goldaniga, proved to be the difference in a physical and hard-fought encounter.

The Bianconeri might have doubled their lead through Mario Mandzukic when home keeper Josip Posavec saved superbly from the Croatian, first on the volley and then from point-blank range. The Juve frontman was denied a third time moments later, this time by the linesman’s flag.

It wouldn't matter, however, as Massimiliano Allegri's men successfully dealt with late pressure from Palermo and defended the win that ensured they maintained top spot in Serie A for the second week running.
