“All that mattered today was that we won – that was more important than me scoring or playing well.”

True, but you couldn't blame Dani Alves if he felt just a tad chuffed after netting the opener against Lazio in the Coppa Italia final.

The Brazilian volleyed home Alex Sandro's cross in the 11th minute to set Juve on the way to cup glory, with Leo Bonucci adding the second midway through the half.

“I got a bit lucky,” the 34-year-old said. “Alex saw my run and sent over a fantastic ball so he deserves a share of the plaudits.

“We all wanted to do our bit to help the team win and that's what we did. That's the main thing because I came here to win.

“That was our aim today too – to win. We all produced a massive effort and pulled it off. It's what we wanted so we're delighted.

“Lazio play good football and have some quality players. We know that finals are always tight but we were the better side tonight and we're pleased with our performance, especially in the first half.

“Now we need to move up another notch if we want the big prize.

“Football is a team game and we're good because we work hard together as a team and are hungry for success. We want to achieve great things and make history.

“We've done well so far. We're ticking off the boxes and we have to keep it up.

“We're yet to claim the biggest prizes so we have to make sure we're properly prepared for what's still to come.”
