Gonzalo Higuain expressed his happiness at Juventus’ 2-0 win at Sassuolo but insisted the Bianconeri have plenty of room for improvement as he spoke to the media after the final whistle on Sunday.

“We can still improve,” began the Argentine striker, who opened the scoring at Mapei Stadium. “There’s still a long way to go but if we play the way we did today then it won’t be easy for the other teams. The Scudetto isn’t in the bag yet – we had to win today to prove ourselves and we’ve done that.”

Higuain also praised coach Massimiliano Allegri for showing guts in naming an attacking 4-2-3-1 formation, with Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala and Higuain himself all starting.

“It’s a system that allows us to perform well,” said Higuain. “Allegri showed courage to use it and we proved that it was possible. I’m feeling great and it’s always easier when you see your team-mates putting in the hard work like they did today.

“Obviously, it requires more effort from us to help the team, but you have to say that we’ve not been troubled much in our recent matches. This needs to be a foundation for us – we can’t stop now. We have to make sure our attitude is right every time because that’s what allows us to go on and create chances. After Florence, it was no mean feat to stay on our game for the three matches we’ve had.”
