For 34 years, Giampiero Boniperti, who turns 88 today, led Juventus Football Club with passion, pride and spirit: 15 (1946-61) as a player and 19 (1971-90) as president.
After joining the Bianconeri at the tender age of 18, he went on to make a total of 459 appearances, scoring 179 goals and lifting five Scudetto titles and two Coppa Italia trophies.
During his time as president, nine further Italian championships and all international honours were added to the club’s trophy cabinet, with his famous mantra following him from the pitch to the boardroom.
He remained close to the club after his spell in the boardroom, joining Alessandro Del Piero on the pitch for an unforgettable Juventus Stadium inauguration on 8 September 2011.
On the day of his 88th birthday, all associated with Juventus would like to wish Giampiero many happy returns.
