João Cancelo brings plenty of pace, flair and tactical flexibility to Juventus’ right flank since joining the club in June 2018.
Born in Barreiro, the Portuguese international joined Benfica at the age of 14 and quickly broke into the Benfica B team.
Having made his debut for the Lisbon giants’ first team in 2014, Cancelo initially moved to La Liga side Valencia on loan in the 2014/15 season before joining them permanently at the end of the campaign.
Cancelo quickly cemented his place in the line-up for Los Che, eventually making 91 appearances in all competitions for the club over three years.
In the summer of 2017, Cancelo made his move to Serie A, joining Inter on a season-long loan, during which he would make 28 appearances. From January onwards, Cancelo led all Serie A defenders in terms of chances created (33) and dribbles completed (38).
Cancelo has represented his country at every age category from Portugal’s Under 16s through to the first team, for whom he made his debut in 2016.
