Stefano Sturaro’s physical power and never-say-die attitude have bolstered the Bianconeri midfield ever since he joined from Genoa in the winter transfer window of 2015.
Bursting onto the scene with a string of late season performances in 2014/15, the natural-born fighter consolidated his position as a key squad player thanks to his characteristically committed and full throttle showings in midfield.
Born in Sanremo on 9 March 1993, Sturaro spent the majority of his early career with local team Sanremese before joining Genoa’s youth academy in 2008.
Having proved a key member of the Primavera’s Super Cup winning side in 2010, Sturaro plied his trade with Serie B outfit Modena during the 2012/13 campaign.
Upon returning to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in the summer of 2013, he scored his first goal in Italy’s top flight against Catania and his performances quickly caught the attentions of Juventus, who signed the midfielder before immediately loaning him back to Genoa to further his education for the first half of 2014/15.
On the international scene, Sturaro progressed through Italy’s Under 18, Under 19 and Under 21 teams before being called up to the first team for the Azzurri’s Euro 2016 campaign.
