Allievi march on

Ivano Della Morte praised the Allievi’s “great attitude” after leading them to the second round of the championship playoffs courtesy of a 3-2 away victory over Fiorentina.

The coach had predicted a tough test in Florence after presiding over two tightly-contested encounters with the Viola over the course of the regular campaign.

The first meeting saw Fiorentina emerge with a narrow victory at Juventus Center, while both sides shared the spoils following a pulsating 2-2 draw in the return fixture.

This time, however, the Bianconeri were in no mood to take any prisoners. Clemente’s double gave them a two-goal advantage ahead of the break and, despite the Viola clawing their way back into proceedings, Donis’ strike rendered the hosts’ second goal a mere consolation.

Looking ahead to upcoming opponents Catania, Della Morte said: “They’re an excellent, well-trained team with great quality. We’ll need to be fully focused.”
