Chiellini praises Juve composure despite dropped points

Giorgio Chiellini could not have been totally satisfied with Juve’s 2-2 draw away at Atalanta on Boxing Day, particularly with the team having conceded two goals. Speaking to Juventus TV after the game, however, the defender was keen to take a positive view on proceedings.

“Conceding two is not something I’m happy with and nor are my team-mates, but it should be said that we rescued a point in a match that seemed lost, after a first half in which we performed well and went close numerous times to scoring a second goal,” he said.

The defender added: “We knew it’d be tough. Atalanta have got a great crowd here and always play well against us. However, even when we went behind we did well to use our heads, showing a good attitude in the final half hour.

“We didn’t try to force matters and knew that a goal would come sooner or later. We need to keep that up against Samp on Saturday.”
