Bianconere seal superb Sassuolo win!

The Bianconere came out on top in today’s top of the table Serie A clash between 1st placed Juventus Women and 3rd in the table Sassuolo, as Rita Guarino’s girls recorded an impressive 3-0 win in Reggio Emilia this lunch time.

From kick-off, the match proved to be that of a balanced one, with both the Bianconere and Saussolo enjoying early possession and attempting to create chances at both ends. Juve’s first real chance came after just 10 minutes when Lina Hurtig went through on goal, but a last-second challenge, ruled not to a penalty proved vital for the home side. The first real save for either goalkeeper didn’t come until the 40-minute mark when Martina Rosucci attempted a volley at goal but a deflection on the midfielder’s strike made it all too comfortable for Diede Lemey in the Sassuolo goal.

Juventus Women were awarded a penalty on the 41st minute after on-loan Bianconere midfielder, Martina Lenzini fouled Valentina Cernoia in the box. Juve’s no.7 took the spot-kick herself and sent Lemey the wrong way to make it 1-0 to Juve and give Rita Guarino’s girls the lead at the half.

Into the second 45’ and the Bianconere started the second innings in the same manner in which they finished the first: with a Cernoia goal. Hurtig rolled the ball over from the right, which arrived at the feet of the No.7, who tapped in from close range. Giuliani hadn’t been tested much during the game and she made an easy save on Bettelani’s effort.

Cernoia came agonizingly close to grabbing a third goal, when she spotted the keeper off her line and fired from range, seeing her effort bounce off the crossbar. A third Juventus goal came in the 77th minute when Caruso played a delightful assist to Maria Alves, who chipped in from a tight angle to make it 3-0. The rest of the game played out in a calm and balanced manner, as Juventus return to Turin with three more points.
