Brazil leave it late

The Selecao secured their first win of World Cup 2018 after beating Costa Rica 2-0 in St. Petersburg, with the result meaning that Brazil need just a point in their final group game against Serbia to reach the Last 16.

Brazil's game against Costa Rica looked to be heading towards a 0-0 stalemate, especially when the Selecao had a penalty award overturned by VAR. However, in the 90th minute Coutinho found himself in space in the box to capitalise to slot home a crucial goal. Brazil made the result safe deep into stoppage time as a smart through pass was latched onto by Juve's Douglas Costa, who rolled a pass across goal into the path of Neymar to tap-in and make it two.

Douglas Costa was introduced as a half-time substitute, and was influential in deciding the game with a match-winning assist. Not only that but Costa also created three chances, made three crosses and had five successful dribbles.
