Calvarese chosen for Palermo encounter

Gianpaolo Calvarese has been named referee for the Bianconeri’s Serie A encounter with Palermo at Juventus Stadium this coming Sunday.

This will be the first time the 38-year-old will have taken charge of a game between this weekend’s opponents and only the third contest he has refereed involving the Old Lady.

Both of the two previous matches overseen by the Teramo-born official have taken place at Juventus Stadium, with the Bianconeri drawing 1-1 against Cagliari in May 2013 before going on to beat Udinese 1-0 thanks to Fernando Llorente's goal later on in the same year.

Calvarese will be flanked in Turin by assistant referees Marzaloni and Iori, goal-line officials Doveri and Pasqua and fourth official Tasso.
