Famous nights in Turin vs Real

There has been a total of eight previous matches in Turin between Juventus and Real Madrid, with six wins for the Bianconeri.

The first meeting between the two teams was in 1962 in the European Cup quarter-finals. The first leg in Turin saw Real Madrid win by a goal to nil courtesy of Alfredo Di Stefano, whilst the second leg in Madrid saw Juve win 0-1 with a goal from Omar Sivori.

The two results meant that the tie had to be settled in a replay on neutral turf in Paris, with Real Madrid winning that tie 3-1 to advance.

Two sides again met in the European Cup in the Last 16 in 1986, and after Real won the first leg 1-0 in Spain, Juve evened the tie on the night with a 1-0 victory of their own when Antonio Cabrini struck. However, Los Blancos would go on to emerge victorious in Turin winning 3-1 on penalties.

1996: JUVE ADVANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME

In the Champions League quarter-finals Juve are down by one goal to nil on aggregate after the match at the Bernabeu. In the 16th minute in Turin the Bianconeri are awarded a free-kick outside the Real Madrid box, Alessandro Del Piero steps up to curl in a clever free-kick through the wall to even the tie.

In the second half Juve take the lead in the 52nd through Michele Padovano. The 2-1 win sends Juve into the semi-finals where they would then go onto to win their second Champions League trophy in Rome.

2003: WHAT A NIGHT!

In the 2002/03 Champions League semi-finals, the Bianconeri trail 2-1 from the first leg in Spain. In the return encounter in Turin the Bianconeri are quick out of the blocks and take the lead in the 12th minute through David Trezeguet who reacts quickest to Del Piero's knockdown, having scored in the first leg.

Just before half-time Juve double their lead with a fantastic goal from Del Piero who excellently controls a long ball up-field, before twisting and turning the Real Madrid defence as he rifles a low shot past Iker Casillas in the Madrid goal.

In the 67th minute Juve concede a penalty but Gianluigi Buffon parries Luis Figo's effort. Just six minutes later and Gianluca Zambrotta's long pass to Pavel Nedved is seized upon by the Czech midfield who buries a fiercesome strike first-time! Current Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane would pull a goal back for Real in the 89th minute but Juve would hang on to reach the final.

2005: DRAMATIC WINNER

In the Last 16 in 2005, Juve once more find themselves a goal down from the first leg but even the game in the 75th minute when Trezeguet scores a spectacular overhead kick.

In extra-time Marcelo Zalayeta would pounce on a cleared ball to strike home a powerful shot from the edge of the area to give La Vecchia Signora a 2-1 lead that would see them advance.

2008 & 2013: TWO GROUP STAGE MEETINGS

The Old Lady has met Los Blancos twice in the Champions League group stages. Firstly in 2008/2009, Del Piero scored a spectacular goal, with Amauri adding a second. Despite Ruud Van Nistelrooy pulling a goal back for Real, Juve were able to hang on and claim all three points in a 2-1 win.

In 2013/14, Arturo Vidal gave La Vecchia Signora the lead just before half-time from the penalty spot, but Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale turned things around in the second half. However, there would be a further twist in the tail as Fernando Llorente scored a bullet header to tie the game up at 2-2.

2015: JUVE TAKE THE ADVANTAGE TO MADRID

The semi-finals of 2015 saw Juve play the first leg at home at the Allianz Stadium, and the Bianconeri raced into the lead after eight minutes when Alvaro Morata tapped home Carlos Tevez' parried shot. Real Madrid equalised as Ronaldo nodded home in the first half, but Juve would go on to win the match in the second after Tevez was tripped in the box and the Argentine kept his composure from the spot to give Juve a 2-1 lead to take to Madrid. As the Bianconeri would then go on to reach the final.
