International Recap: Benatia and Matuidi both in action

With four days to go until the World Cup kicks off in Russia, those Bianconeri called up by their countries are continuing their preparations for international football’s greatest competition.

Yesterday saw both Medhi Benatia and Blaise Matuidi play from the first minute for their respective nations, Morocco and France.

Benatia captained his side during the first half of a 3-1 victory away to Estonia, thanks to goals by Younès Belhanda, Hakim Ziyech and Youssef En-Nesyri.

Meanwhile, Matuidi featured for 58 minutes of France’s 1-1 draw in Lyon against the United States, where Les Bleus needed a late equalizer by Kylian Mbappé to cancel out the visitors’ opening strike by Julian Green.

Today is the turn of Douglas Costa’s Brazil to finalise preparations for the World Cup. The Seleção take on Austria in Vienna at 16.00 CEST.
