Malmo slip to defeat in Stockholm

The Bianconeri’s first Champions League Group A opponents Malmo saw their lead at the top of the Allsvenskan trimmed to four points following this evening’s 2-0 away reverse at the hands of Djurgarden.

A slow start by the visitors allowed Bosnian midfielder Haris Radetinac to open the scoring inside ten minutes before matters took a turn for the worse when Sebastian Andersson extended Djurgarden’s advantage nine minutes ahead of the interval.

Despite steadying the ship after the break, there was to be no rousing second-half fightback as the hosts held on to condemn Sweden's reigning champions to their first defeat since May.

Elsewhere, Malmo’s nearest challengers AIK ran out 4-2 winners over Norrkoping to keep the pressure on with eight games of the season remaining.
