Montemurro: “Inter match crucial to our season”

Juventus Women travel to Inter on Saturday for their second match of the Scudetto Pool, which kicks off at 14:30 CET.

It will be the third time the Bianconere have faced their Nerazzurre counterparts in the last four games, following the two-legged Coppa Italia clash at the start of the month.

Ahead of the game, Joe Montemurro took to Juventus's official Twitch channel to preview his side's latest meeting with Inter, fielding questions from fans and journalists alike.

Below you can read a selection of his answers.

DERBY D'ITALIA FOCUS

“We must try to manage possession well and prevent our opponents from hitting us on the break as they're very dangerous at pace. This will be our fifth meeting with them this season and we know each other's strengths and weaknesses so it won't be easy for either side to come out on top. The mental side will be key. We must be strong mentally and go into it with the right approach if we want to win the game.”

CRUCIAL MATCH

“Roma aren't playing this weekend so a win would take us to within five points of them. This match against Inter is crucial for the rest of the season.”

NILDEN AND BOATTIN

“I'm really happy because [Amanda] Nilden is getting better and better. She's trained well this week and we'll see whether or not to start her tomorrow. We're also happy to have [Lisa] Boattin back in the matchday squad.”

SCUDETTO POOL

“The Scudetto Pool is motivating because it pits us against the best teams in the league. The level is very high but it helps us to keep raising the bar. I think there are a lot of benefits to be had from these games.”

BEERENSTEYN

“Lineth's quality and ideas bring so much to our team. We try out different in-game scenarios in training to put her in good positions to run at the opposition defence and get in on goal. She's a great professional.”

UP AND COMING

“Evelina Duljan is a quality player, as are Elisa Pfattner and Eva Schatzer. It shows the excellent work being done in our academy teams, which is key to the future of our first team. We're monitoring lots of talented young players and we're very happy with the work of our youth academy.”

COPPA ITALIA

“The Coppa Italia is an important trophy for us but we're focusing on the games we have to play in the Scudetto Pool. Besides anything else, these games will help us find our best form for the cup final.”

FROM VINOVO TO THE MOLE ANTONELLIANA...

“I'd consider walking from Vinovo to the Mole Antonelliana to win the Scudetto. I'm not superstitious but if it helps I'll happily go along with it!”

COME BACK SOON, MARTI!

“Martina [Rosucci] is ok. She's started her rehabilitation. She's resting at home at the moment but she'll be right behind us. She's an extra reason for us to give everything against Inter and in our coming matches. Rosucci is an example for the rest of the team. We'll wait for her to return.”
