“No to Racism” the call from Vinovo!

Today was a day of solidarity in Vinovo as 130 youngsters from Juve’s Turin Academy came together to celebrate the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in a specially organised event at the club’s training ground.

With another afternoon of sport and entertainment on the agenda – the fourth event of its kind to be arranged in as many years - Juventus took the opportunity once more to reaffirm its commitment to fighting discrimination in all its forms.

Monday’s festivities represented the culmination of a week of activity for the cause which even saw the invitation opened up to the club’s supporters on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtags #UNESCOJuventus and #WhatColour.

Six pitches were primed and prepared for a series of small-sided matches contested by, among others, participants in Juventus’ “Play With Me” initiative, a joint collaboration between the Italian champions and the Turin UNESCO Centre.

As the photos below will show, it was to be a day to remember for all involved.

Juventus and UNESCO have long collaborated in the fight against racism, giving rise to the following projects:

  • Kick Out Racism’ and ‘Play With Me,’ presented by club president Andrea Agnelli on 6 March 2014 in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
  • The UNESCO Cup, from which proceeds helped to provide support to child soldiers in Mali and the Central African Republic.
  • The ‘Colour? What Colour?’ dossier, presented on 27 November 2015 in Paris, which analyses the relationship between discrimination and inclusion in the world of sport.
