Weston McKennie's World Cup adventure continues.

The Juve midfielder was once again in the starting XI for the USA team that defeated Iran to leapfrog their Matchday 3 opponents in the Group B standings and qualify for the last-16.

The match's only goal was scored by Christian Pulisic after 38 minutes. The move was started when McKennie played an inch-perfect pass to Sergino Dest, who's cross was turned home by Pulisic from close range. The scorer was injured in the process and immediataly received treatment before being replaced at the interval.

McKennie played 65 minutes at Al Thumama Stadium as the USA were seldom threatened by Iran and qualified for the knock-out stages for the third time in the last four tournaments.

United States will play the Netherlands in the last-16 at 16:00 CET on Saturday, 3 December.

Weston McKennie and his Team USA drew for the second time at Qatar 2022 in Matchday 2. The American national side were held to a goalless draw by England at the Al Bayt Stadium. Although USA outplayed the Group B leaders, they were unable to take advantage of their supremacy with McKennie, among others, spurning a first half chance. The Bianconeri midfielder was substituted in the 77th minute.

McKennie's USA adventure in Qatar began with a draw between the United States and Wales that concluded the first day of Group B, which was inaugurated by England's 6-2 win over Iran.

At the Al Rayyan Stadium the teams each shared a half of dominance, reflected by the goals in each half, with the USA taking the lead on 36 minutes after a lovely team move was finished off by Timothy Weah. Whilst, Wales drew level late on thanks to Gareth Bale's penalty kick on 82'.

McKennie started the match, before becoming the USA's first substitution on 66 minutes.
