Qatar 2022 Recap | Rabiot leads France comeback

Five Juventus players were on the pitch in Qatar on Tuesday 22 November 2022.

The World Cup began for Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes with Argentina, Arek Milik and Wojciech Szczesny with Poland and Adrien Rabiot with France. One defeat, one draw and one victory was the outcome of the day's action.

FRANCE 4-1 AUSTRALIA

Adrien Rabiot enjoyed a super debut. He was inspirational in France's comeback win against Australia. After Goodwin's opener, Adrien first equalised with a header, then provided the assist for Giroud which sent the defending champions into the break with a 2-1 lead.

In the second half victory was secured by Mbappé and again Giroud, whose double allowed him to reach Henry as France's join all-time scorer.

MEXICO 0-0 POLAND

The points were shared between Mexico and Poland. Wojciech Szczesny made four saves, but it was his opposite number, Guillermo Ochoa, that grabbed the headlines saving a Lewandowski penalty. Arek Milik replaced Piotr Ziélinski in the 87th minute.

ARGENTINA 1-2 SAUDI ARABIA

A debut defeat for Argentina. The Albiceleste took the lead through Messi's penalty, obtained by Leandro Paredes, but fell behind in the second half with goals from Al Shehri and Al Dawsari. Angel Di Maria played for the full match 90, while Paredes was replaced in the 59th minute by Enzo Fernández.
